Mark Teixeira rarely addressed his past April slumps with either alarm or with self-deprecating humor, usually dismissing them publicly as coincidental links throughout his career. But the Yankee first baseman admitted to pro-actively attacking that problem head-on with hitting coach Kevin Long this spring. Teixeira even poked a little fun at himself about it after blasting a key three-run homer in the Yankees' 6-3 Opening Day victory over Detroit Thursday.
